SHARE COW PROGRAM - Raw Milk

Just a glass of milk or is it?
For hundreds of generations humans have seen milk as the most complete nutritional source available.
Unfortunately the milk that is available for us to buy in the local shop is not a patch on what our ancestors enjoyed.

Pasteurisation
1.  Destroys enzymes that are required to absorb lactose, calcium and other nutrients from the milk.
2.  Kills the bacteria in the milk, many of which are required to digest the milk, including probiotic (good) bacteria. In fact many people that display allergic reactions to dairy products are in fact reacting to the toxins from the dead bacteria that are still in the milk.
3.  All of the amino acids that our bodies use as building blocks for protein are present in raw cow’s milk. Many of these are very heat sensitive.

Homogenisation
Fractures the butterfat molecules into tiny shards that stops the cream from rising to the top of the milk. These tiny particles pass into the blood stream without being digested properly.

Skim milk
Removes the butterfat that is essential to absorb vitamins and minerals from the water fraction of the milk. Butterfat prompts the release of a "trigger” that tells the body that it has eaten enough.

Processed milk
Most dairy factories separate the milk into it’s various components, then combine the different components to make up each of the different milk products that they sell. The oxidation of cholesterol during these processes, especially skim and powdered milks has been a major contributor to high rates of heart disease.

Real MILK
What is it?
It’s milk taken from cow’s grazing on chemical free pasture, simply filtered and refrigerated.

How can I get it?
Unfortunately it is illegal to sell unpasteurised milk in South Australia. The only legal way that you can consume Real MILK is to drink milk from your own cow.

Shared house cow

program

We have set up this program to enable those that don’t have the space or time to look after their own house cow, the opportunity to legally consume Real MILK. We are providing a facility where people that are unable to house their own cow, or wouldn’t utilise the production of one complete cow, can as a group own their own cows and share in the production of their cows.

Ownership of each cow is divided into 100 shares entitling each share owner to 1% of the milk that cow produces, which will average approximately one and a half litres per share per week.

The amount of milk you want to collect each week will determine how many shares you need to purchase. For example if you would like to collect 10 litres per week you would need to purchase 7 shares, preferably in different cows as this will even out supply throughout the year.

What Does It Cost?
One share in a cow costs $27.50 including GST. For each share a monthly Boarding Fee of $7.50 inc. GST will be payable in advance which covers all costs associated with maintenance of the cow and dairy, such as feeding, health treatments, milking costs, dairy shed and milking machine maintenance, electricity, refrigeration, water supply, and effluent disposal.

What will I get?
You will receive on average 6.5 litres of milk per month (which we supply in 2 litre plastic bottles) per share for the cost of $7.50. This equates to $1.15 per litre.

Delivery by Organicbox..
If you are getting the milk delivered with an Organicbox order or for pick up in the cold room, you must advise Mark with your share application that you are an Organicbox customer, so the milk comes to Lewiston.
Organicbox will deliver milk provided there is a $30 minimum order for Organicbox produce/products.
